It has been quite some time since Daddy last heard you say the word purple — especially with that little voice that echoes in my heart. Do you remember?
Purple was our secret color of our meeting place, the color Daddy always spoke of before bedtime in Singapore. “We’ll meet at the purple cloud,” that was the time, where Daddy send you off to dreams and wait for mummy’s return.
Before you left with mummy, I told you this: If you ever miss Daddy, look for me at the Purple Cloud.
From now until the time before Daddy turns 50 — if God willing, or someone upstairs agrees — Daddy’s deepest wish will be split into three parts: One for you and Mummy, One for our grands, And one to carry quietly within myself.
In an earlier post, Daddy once said that a song named “Chase” reminded Daddy of the color red. If I were to choose a song that captures the color of purple, it would be “Eyes on Me” by Faye Wong.
The beautiful melody blend into something which is unique and timeless.
It feels like a song that could represent our unique love, shared between the three of us.
